With only a few days left until Halloween, we got in contact with Buffy 'the Wedding Slayer' Jones at Arnos Vale Cemetery, one of the most atmospheric spots in the city to a) celebrate Halloween and b) get married! Here are Buffy's favourite places to eat out in Bristol:

Buffy Jones - Visit Bristol Food Friday

The Grain Barge

After moving to Bristol from Cornwall two years ago my mission was to explore the city and after an afternoon of wandering the streets, I found myself outside a huge converted barge and climbed onboard the Grain Barge. I've visited numerous time since, and with its extensive beer menu, delicious seasonal dishes and amazing views of the Harbour, it's ideal for a relaxed meal with friends. Their chicken pie is my favourite and on Wednesdays you can also get a free pint of Bristol beer - mid-week dinner sorted!

The Lido Restaurant

I'm sure this is on everyone’s list of the best places to eat but that's for good reason, an entirely unique setting in the heart of Bristol, the Lido is a complete indulgence. The Swim and Eat packages combine access to the pool and spa facilities with carefully prepared dishes and are available seven days a week throughout the year. The Swim and Breakfast will wake you up for the day and although it may seem a little extravagant before 10.30am it's my idea of heaven and worth every penny!

Atrium Café by Clever Chefs

Arnos Vale is a 45-acre Victorian cemetery, just a 10-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads Railway Station you can wander through the woods, listen to birds and explore this amazing heritage site - an idyllic spot to recharge those batteries. Pop into the Atrium café flooded with natural light, where the smell of freshly-ground coffee and a selection of mouth-watering cakes and pastries await. At the moment my favourite lunch item is ‘The Mary Carpenter’ bagel, it’s full of chicken, peppers, cheese and bacon jam and named after an important social reformer who is buried at Arnos Vale.

Under the Stars

Drawing on the idea of travel, the chefs at Under the Stars created a menu influenced from across the Mediterranean, try their goats cheese and olive pizza! It’s very popular at the weekends and might be a bit of a squeeze in the evenings, but with its relaxed 1920s decor, social atmosphere and extravagant cocktails, it's definitely worth a visit. I’d recommend a few tapas dishes and a ‘Rock the Cazcabel’ cocktail before popping across the road for an evening show at Bristol Hippodrome

Florence

Once a month, my partner and I take the four-minute walk from our house to Florence in Totterdown for a taste of traditional Italian cooking. With its informal atmosphere and welcoming hosts, dining at the Florence is like dining with family - bring your own bottle, pull up a chair and enjoy! The Oxford pub opposite regularly has open mic nights and an eclectic mix of bands, so dine alfresco and make the most of these autumnal evenings.

Alfresco dining

The weather has been so lovely lately and knowing England's usual climate, I'm keen to make the most of it before the cold draws in (winter is coming...) Once a week my partner and I have packed books, blankets and picnics, left the mobiles and laptops behind and ridden our bikes to Victoria Park for some well needed relaxation - perfect!
