From centuries past to present day, Bristol has been a hub for innovation. Whether it be behind closed doors or demonstrated in landmarks across Bristol, there is no missing the innovative spirit of the city. By hosting an event in Bristol, your delegates will both be able to contribute and benefit from this spirit, maintaining it for years to come.

Brunel’s SS Great Britain

Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 19th century, the SS Great Britain was the world’s first great ocean liner to cross the Atlantic. After being in service from 1845 to 1886 she was abandoned until 1970 when she was towed back to the United Kingdom for restoration. She now stands tall in Bristol Harbour and is Bristol’s top visitor attraction. Along with being visited by many throughout the years, the SS Great Britain boasts fantastic event space both on and off the ship. With their Great Eastern Hall ideal for conferences for up to 250 guests and the original 1st class lounge, restored to its former glory, it offers a wonderful setting for a conference with a difference.

Watershed offers the opportunity to host events in both their light and airy event space that can seat up to 120 guests and in their cinemas, ideal for presentations or launches.

We the Curious

We the Curious, science centre, has been inspiring minds since 2000 with exhibitions exploring the “inner workings of the world around us”. With the UK’s first 3D planetarium attached to the site, it is the perfect space for your delegates to sit back and be immersed in the grandeur of the universe. Their main event space seats up to 460 guests and is located on the top floor of the centre which allows for beautiful views of the city.

With the rise of students aspiring to be entrepreneurs after graduating from the University of Bristol, a programme was created for students to learn how to “innovate, develop and plan their own business venture from day one” alongside their degree. This 4-year programme is now linked to 11 subjects across the university. To extend the hub of innovation, the university offers their event space, across their sites, for conferences and events for up to 800 guests.

University of the West of England

Working alongside Airbus, Rolls-Royce and the Ministry of Defence, the University of the West of England has courses tailored to engineering and aerospace in addition to masters degrees specially focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship. Their large 4000 square metre function space can be used and split up in many ways offering versatility and the ability to change from day to day depending on the event programme.

Engine Shed
