The Old Market Assembly

25 West Street, Old Market, BS2 0DF

My first recommendation has to be the home of our flagship show. Not only do we perform in The Wardrobe at the back of the OMA but, most of our Closer Each Day company meetings are held there, over hot food and beverages or tea and cake. It’s a great place, full of life, perfect for a daytime meeting or a night time gathering.

Pickle Cafe, Underfall Yard

Cumberland Road, BS1 6XG

Last autumn, we were workshopping with our mentor, Patti Stiles, in a space on the docks and developing our new shows for Brunel’s SS Great Britain. One of our company members discovered Pickle was just around the corner so we headed there, en masse, one lunchtime – and were not disappointed! It was a grey day but, Bristol is so beautiful, it was lovely to sit on the benches and look out across the docks as we munched away on our tasty toasted sandwiches.

31a College Green, BS1 5TB

People queue out of the door here for a reason. They do the most amazing gelato and sorbet and every time I visit, I try something different. I almost always go for 2 scoops of ‘Guest Flavours’ (as I can’t decide between them) and writing this post has made me realise I have the perfect excuse to pop in this weekend. I’ve looked at their website and decided I’ll be trying a scoop of ‘Crema Al Limone’ with a scoop of ‘Passion Fruit Sorbet’ to get me through my 10 hour stint in the 26 Hour Bristol Improv Marathon. Don’t judge my flavour combinations: it’s all about the Gelato FOMO!

The Bristolian

2 Picton Strett, BS6 5QA

I love a cooked breakfast. I recently went here for the first time with some friends and between us I think we had all the variations of cooked breakfast from Vegan to Fusion and all of them were delicious (I could happily eat a plate full of their crispy aubergine on its own)! Following breakfast we decided to sample a few of their cakes (nearly all of which contain some kind of alcohol) and they were so good, my new food-mission is to go there again and try all the cakes we missed!

The Lock Up

182 Church Road, BS5 9HX

This little gem can be found in the heart of Redfield, opposite Aldi on Church Road. It’s an independent restaurant and bar that has proven to be a great place for a breakfast meeting. I love their bacon and egg sarnies but they do loads more besides and, like the Bristolian, they serve into the evening and have seating outdoors (with outdoor heaters) as well as seating indoors.
