For this week’s #FoodFriday, Supal Desai, travel lifestyle blogger and lady in love with Bristol’s food scene, shares her favourite places to dine out in the city.

As an American, we’re exposed to all types of foods coming from a country made of immigrants! I always expected London to provide the same, but was completely blown away by the incredible selection Bristol had to offer. I found it a delight that Bristol celebrated its gastronomy by going local and catering to what the region did best.

If you have a sweet tooth like me, then Pinkmans will not disappoint you. I asked every Bristolian I could where the best ‘cake’ was and they pointed me to Pinkmans. Little puffs of sugary clouds that are sour-dough-nuts with perfect fillings. I chose the honeycomb and then the chocolate for a cheeky second round!

The River Grille

The River Grille was hands down the perfect way to welcome me to Bristol. With a view of the Harbour, the vibes were cosy and luxurious at once. I loved that every dish successfully incorporated a bit of sweet, spice and salt. My suggestion is to not share the dessert!

The Florist

If Instagram was a restaurant, then The Florist would be it. The dreamiest looking cocktails to the food that you crave the most, the menu has something literally for everyone. Each room in the restaurant is almost like a postcard. The perfect place for dinner and drinks with the girlfriends.

The Lost & Found

If you’re looking for a fancy place for drinks on a Saturday night or even a Sunday roast, then The Lost & Found has got you sorted. The secret bar is the perfect venue for a date night. If you rather indulge, then I suggest the fuss-free and delicious Sunday roast.

Stokes Croft Cafes

One of my favourite things to do when I’m traveling is to sit in a corner of a cafe and people watch. It’s the best way to get to know a city. Cafe Kino is one of my favourite places for a slow morning or a productive afternoon where I can get a cup of coffee and a nice vegetarian meal. The Arts House Cafe is another place where you can get some work done, but I love perching up to the window and seeing the city go by with my chai latte.
