#BearsGoToTown (22 July – 31 August)

Throughout the school holidays, young shoppers will be able to follow the #BearsGoToTown trail around the shops, searching for 24 beautifully decorated 2D bears, each a metre tall. The event has been organised by Broadmead BID in partnership with the Wild Place Project and Wild At Art, inspired by Bear Wood. The exciting new Wild Place Project exhibit opens on 25 July and will be the only place in the UK where bears and wolves coexist in ancient woodland.

Everyone who completes the trail will have the chance to enter a competition to win family tickets to Wild Place and other prizes. Children will also have the chance to decorate some ‘bare bears’ at activity sessions taking place in Cabot Circus on Wednesday 14 August, as well as Wildlife Craft Workshops at John Wesley’s Chapel, The New Room in Broadmead every Thursday from 25 July to 15 August.

Very young children and their favourite teddy bears are invited to The New Room for bear-themed storytelling sessions on 31 July, 6 August and 20 August. There will be a small charge for the sessions at the New Room and places must be booked via Eventbrite.

LEGO build day at The Galleries (21 July)

Kids can learn tricks and tips to become a master builder at this LEGO build day, taking place between 11am – 4pm in The Galleries. The LEGO crew will be joined by a special guest, Bertie the Brickmaster, and together they will delve into a box of thousands of bricks, create some crazy builds and show little ones how to make their own.

Delivered by the LEGO Discovery Centre, this is another free event and parents will be able to pick up some great summer offers at the same time.

Pirate fun at The Galleries (26 & 27 July)

Yet another free family-friendly event! Take your little buccaneers to join Captain Hook and Smee for some swashbuckling entertainment from 11am – 4pm on both days, when pirate shows and lots more sea-worthy shenanigans will be kicking off.

Young shoppers can pose for photos in a pirate-themed set and with a captured mermaid, as well as create their own pirate disguise in the transformation craft workshops. Families will also be able to play in the tin can alley and enjoy balloon modelling and pirate glitter tattoos, before taking their turn to walk the plank!

There’s also the opportunity to win £50 to spend at The Entertainer when you share photos of the event via social media. Follow Galleries Bristol on Facebook and Instagram for the details and tag them in your posts.

Mojito Beach Bar (Open now until September)

Now something for the grown-ups – the Mojito Beach Bar is open on The Podium in Broadmead until September. Complete with a sandy beach, they are serving delicious cocktails, authentic Hawaiian beers and fittingly summery live music, creating an amazing seasonal atmosphere.

And they haven’t forgotten about the beach bar’s youngest visitors. As well as a great selection of soft drinks, there’s also table tennis, a variety of large outdoor games and a wide range of beach equipment.

It's open daily from 10am until 10pm and you can secure the best seats in the house by reserving a private beach booth for your party, plus VIP packages.

Brizzle Kidz workshops (25 July)

The Brizzle Kidz Clubhouse in The Galleries will be open every Thursday from 25 July until the end of the school holidays, hosting a different free craft workshop each week. There’s the chance to create everything from a Pokeball gift box to summer wind chimes.
