Summer Savour: Foodie Fest at Cabot Circus (1 – 22 August)

Cabot Circus is playing host to a three week foodie extravaganza this summer. Some of the nation's favourite restaurants will be offering exclusive discounts and complimentary samples including Pizza Express, Hotel Chocolat, Wagamama and more. 

Summer Sound Clash Festival at Turtle Bay (15-18 August)

Caribbean restaurant, Turtle Bay, has announced a four-day Summer Sound Clash Festival, a free event bringing authentic reggae vibes to life, with live DJ sessions, sunshine-inspired rum cocktails and some of the best Caribbean cuisine on the block.

Apple Bros Burgers and Cider Festival (22 – 24 August) 

Following it's successful debut last year, the Apple Bros Festival will be returning for another weekend of boats, burgers, beers and cider! Expect a plethora of local Bristol bands and DJs, as well as face painting, glitter and family fun games across three days. Free entry.

East Bristol Brewery Trail (24-25 August)

Some of Bristol's best breweries roll up the shutters to welcome you for a fun weekend of beer, music and street food. With just a short walk between each brewery, it’s a chance to meet the brewers, explore the area and sample some great local beers. The Brewery Trail is centred around the start of the Bristol & Bath cycle path, near Lawrence Hill station and only ten minutes from Temple Meads.

Dinners & special events

Mount Gay rum supper club at Riverstation (8 August)

A special evening starting with a short cruise on a Bristol Ferry, including a pre dinner cocktail. Once you have docked on the pontoon at Riverstation, you will enjoy a three course, set dinner menu and a Mount Gay aperitif on arrival. A menu of specially created Mount Gay cocktails will be available for you to purchase throughout the evening. Tickets £40.

Summer Movies & Afternoon Tea at Bristol Hippodrome (9,10, 16, 17, 23, 24 August)

Enjoy some of Disney’s finest movies with delicious afternoon teas in the grand surroundings of Bristol Hippodrome's Piano Bar, with screenings of Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Alice in Wonderland and The Lion King. The afternoon tea comes with freshly filled sandwiches, scones and mouthwatering cakes, all accompanied by refillable teas and coffees. Disney-inspired fancy dress is strongly encouraged! Tickets £12.50.

Supper Club at Sundial Kitchen (16 August)

Delicious and playful modern cuisine in a relaxed and fun setting in Southville. Expect a welcome drink and canapés, followed by a four course menu based on seasonal produce. Following the welcome drink, on the house, the event will be bring your own bottle. Tickets £42.

Riesling Wine Dinner at Hotel du Vin (16 August)

A decandent dinner showcasing the world’s greatest white grape, covering classics and surprises from countries such as Australia, France and Germany. The evening includes an arrival drink with canapés and a three course meal paired with wines. £70 per person.

Fizz and fondue at The Prince St Social (25 August)

Join Prince Street Social on the Bank Holiday weekends for a bit of fizz and fondue! You'll get a glass of prosecco on arrival as well as a pot of cheesy goodness to share with your friends, all for £20 per person!

Tours

History tour and lunch at Thornbury Castle (12, 17 & 19 August)

Take a step back in time with this informative tour of the castle and Tudor Walled Gardens, followed by a delicious afternoon tea. Tickets £36.50.

Sundown Gin & Rum Sailings with Bristol Ferry (14 & 28 August)

Join Bristol Ferry for a leisurely cruise around the Bristol's harbour with a drink in hand! They will be serving gin on 28th August, or rum on 14th August, paired with cheeses and tapas as you cruise around the sun-soaked harbour. There will also be a suitable sountrack to set the scene and get you in the mood to socialise, relax and take in the view. This trip departs from City Centre Ferry Landing and departs at 7pm for a 9pm return. Tickets are £20, including two complimentary drinks and nibbles.

Bristol Hoppers 'Best of Bristol' craft beer tour (17 August)

Visit four venues (two lovely traditional pubs, a microbrewery and a craft beer bar) and sip your way through eight different locally-produced beers. You'll walk through the most interesting parts of the city, passing historic landmarks as well as modern additions, such as a Banksy mural. All of your beers are included in the £25 ticket price.

Vineyard tour & tasting at Limeburn Hill biodynamic vineyard (18 August)

The vineyard manager and winemaker will take you on a guided walk through the vines, demonstrating how they are managed in a natural and sustainable way, and explaining how the biodynamic farming methods create such special wine. The tour will culminate in a guided tasting of the wines, where it will be explained how the wine is made naturally, using only the juice and wild yeast. Tickets £15.

Tastings

Arch House Deli Cheese & Wine Tasting at Averys Wine Merchants (16 August)

Taste six of the best cheeses from Arch House Deli in the historic Avery's Wine Cellars. Each has been paired with six wines designed to bring out the very best in each other. You'll also be provided with background information on each of the cheeses and wines and most importantly you will get to try them in what is sure to be a memorable evening. Tickets £30.

Don Papa rum tasting at The Clockwork Rose (21 August)

Get a taste of Don Papa Rum, a single island rum from the Philippines. Distilled at the foothills of the active volcano, Mt. Kanlaon, Don Papa is known for its rich sweet flavour which comes from the finest sugar cane grown and harvested at the same volcano. This event includes a welcome drink, a tasting of each of the rum expressions, and The Clockwork Rose's signature cocktail pairing finale. Tickets £14.95.

Markets

Bristol also has its share of markets and street food events taking place throughout the month.

You'll find Harbour Nights on the quayside outside the Arnolfini every Friday night in August & September, showcasing some of the city's best food stalls, DJs and live music.

There are also farmers and street food markets throughout the week at St Nicholas Market (Mon-Sat) and Harbourside Market (Wed, Thur, Sat & Sun) in the city centre, Temple Quay Market (Thursdays) by Temple Meads Station, Finzels Reach Market (Fridays) in Redcliffe, Whiteladies Road Market in Clifton, and the Tobacco Factory Sunday Market in Southville.
