The Lion King has roared back into Bristol, taking over The Bristol Hippodrome until 23 November.

This multi-award-winning, world-class production follows the story of the Disney film released back in 1994 (and re-imagined in 2019); one that is familiar to most. Set against the majesty of the Serengeti, with the evocative rhythms of Africa echoing around the theatre, The Lion King tells the story of Simba’s epic journey to fulfil his destiny as King of the Pridelands.

Just like the production's previous visit to the Bristol Hippodrome seven years ago, when it also opened the UK tour, the configuration of the theatre has been changed to enable what is probably the most stunning opening to any theatre show. Animals of all shapes and sizes gracefully take to the stage as the theatre reverberates to the ‘Circle of Life’.

With a truly international cast from across the globe, this is a feel-good, uplifting production that is as good (if not better) than any West End production.  The young Simba and Nala look like they are having a blast as they bounce across the stage with an energy that is infectious.

This is a polished five-star production that really shows the Bristol Hippodrome at its best, with the orchestra and stunning voices practically blowing the roof off.
