Bristol’s Hippodrome has just welcomed the smash-hit musical Pretty Woman on their UK and Ireland tour. I for one, was ready and waiting for this to hit our hometown, as an ultimate favourite of mine, I knew I was going to be in for a treat.
We were immediately swept off our feet with the wonderful Ore Oduba as Happy Man and the sensational original SIX: the Musical queen Natalie Paris as Kit de Luca, in their musical number Welcome to Hollywood. Setting the scene from the Blue Banana on the Hollywood Boulevard, Kit and Vivian (the outstanding Amber Davies) then embark on their night shift when they unexpectedly come across a lost Edward (the very talented Oliver Savile) in his borrowed Lotus, lucky for him, Vivian is an old hat at all things car related and ensures he reaches his destination of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
This rom-com is full of cleverly written whit, look out for Giulio (Noah Harrison) and his humorous antics, he’ll be sure to brighten up your evening. As the story progresses, choreography and musical numbers excel themselves, with all members of the cast contributing to the fantastic delivery. An extra special mention to Lila Falce-Bass (Violetta/Bag Lady) in making her debut, she was magnificent in the Opera scene.
The whole performance had me captivated throughout, the story told so well and had us all reciting those iconic one liners. It’s a must see, so don’t miss out, it’ll be a Big Mistake. Big. Huge!
Pretty Woman runs through until Saturday 11 November (excluding Monday 6 November), get your tickets here.
