Song fact
Jingle Bells was written by James Lord Pierpont (published under the title "The One Horse Open Sleigh") in the autumn of 1857 and was inspired by the popular sleigh races of 1800s. Jingle Bells was first song performed in space.
You can find out all about space at We The Curious, with questions posed in the 'What If?' exhibition including 'Is there another me in the universe?' Then after you've learnt about space, how about a trip there, sort of. We The Curious is home to the UK’s first 3D Planetarium that will take you on a journey to the outer reaches of the universe.
#MerryBristmas Fact
Some infamous alternative lyrics of Jingle Bells include "jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg" but Batman and Robin have been seen in nearby Broadmead Shopping Area in the Only Fools and Horses Christmas special. Check it out in the video below.
And there's another Robin link too. This year on Netflix, you'll be able to catch Robin Robin, a 30 minute special, produced by Aardman Animation, who are based in Bristol.
The project is part of Bristol City Centre BID’s #LoveBristol campaign which promotes the recovery of the city, bringing together 100s of businesses to help create the festive trail. New to this year is the partnership with Redcliffe and Temple BID, adding many new and iconic locations to the attraction.
