Great Hall set up


The Bristol Grammar School is a unique academic venue. The Great Hall seats up to 380 guests, coupled with the flexibility of allowing our clients the freedom to arrange their own catering, making it especially appealing to the Asian community.

The Great Hall

For wedding receptions, large parties and charity balls the Great Hall has dramatic style. Of its many breathtaking features, the first thing to strike you about the Great Hall is its size. Accessed by a glorious stone staircase, this is one of the largest venues in Bristol with a floor sapce of 7,000 sq ft, an one of very few venues in Bristol capable of seating 380 guests.


They have various classrooms available on our main campus. Each classroom can seat between 10-40 people, and includes a fully interactive whiteboard, screen and projector. These rooms are ideal for Summer Camps, exams, rehearsals and corporate meetings.

Sports Centre

The Sports Centre is located off Elmdale Road, and houses our main sports hall, which can accommodate popular activities such as five-a-side football, badminton, basketball and cricket. They have a fully equipped weights room, four squash courts, a climbing wall, and a dance stuidio, with sprung floor, ideal for kung fu, yoga, pilates, fencing and ballet.

Mackay Theatre

If you are planning a theatre production, the atmospheric Mackay Theatre has tiered seating for 145 people, a sound and lighting gallery, and plenty of overhead rails for lighting rigs and scenery.

Pavilion at Failand

This facility is an attractive ten-minute drive from our main campus, across the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. Set in acres of woodland, the meticulously-tended pitches make this venue perfect for sporting fixtures, wedding receptions, and corporate parties. The Pavilion has rooms for up to 150 people seated inside, plenty of space for marquees outside and ample free parking.

Road Directions

Bristol Grammar School is located in the heart of the city on the borders of Clifton, Cotham and Redland, just off the well known 'Triangle' area between Park Street, Whiteladies Road and the University campus. M5Exit the M5 at Junction 18. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A4 portway into Bristol (approx 4 miles). After passing under Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge, you reach the Cumberland Basin one-way system. Keep on the Hotwells Road. At the roundabout take the 1st exit up Jacob Wells Road, continue up the hill, keep in the right hand lane and exit left onto Tyndalls Park. Follow the one way system into Elmdale Road and then left into University Road.M4/M32Exit the M4 at Junciton 19. Take the M32 and continue until the motorway ends. Continue onto the A4032, bear right onto Bond Street. At St James Barton, take 2nd exit onto Marlborough Street, continue to follow B4051. Turn right into Woodlands Road, turn left onto Elton Road.

Public Transport Directions

Bristol Grammar School is located in the heart of the city on the borders of Clifton, Cotham and Redland, just off the well known 'Triangle' area between Park Street, Whiteladies Road and the University campus. Bus number 8 or 9 run every 10 minuites from Temple Meads Stations, City Centre and up to the top of Park Street. Head for University Road. Bristol Grammar School can be found at the top of University Road.
