Meet Bristol

The Meet Bristol team deliver a range of services to conference and business event organisers and run a free venue finding service for those looking to bring events to the city. 

While this can often be as simple as finding a meeting room for a client, it can often be complex, producing bid documents on behalf of clients or with ambassadors, organising site visits or producing a comprehensive overview of how clients can organise drinks receptions, delegate accommodation, dinners and entertainment programmes.

Although clients will often contact us directly, the team also follow up pro-active leads looking at key sectors and events which would suit the city both in terms of content and venue.

There is a comprehensive events programme where the team take Bristol to the buyers both in the UK and overseas.

Working with the marketing team, there is a range of marketing activity including digital, social and e-comms.

Amy Bramhall - Convention Bureau Manger

How long have you been with Meet Bristol and what do you do?

I joined Meet Bristol in May 2017 to head up the conference team, covering a maternity leave. I’m responsible for driving new business to Bristol and promoting what our city has to offer. I also oversee the company’s venue finding service and work closely with our member hotels and venues.

Do you have a typical day?

My role is really varied, which is great! My responsibilities include exhibiting at industry trade shows, hosting Familiarisation trips to showcase the city region and finding new ways to work with our clients. There are always new opportunities cropping up so there is never a dull day at the office! My favourite part of the job is building relationships with local businesses and potential clients and working together to create the perfect Bristol experience.

What’s your top tip for businesses working with Meet Bristol?

No enquiry is ever too big or small. We will always strive to secure the best venue and price point to meet your needs. Our team is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to Bristol so please don't hesitate to get in touch! Lesa Walker - Conference Executive

How long have you been with Meet Bristol and what do you do?

I joined Destination Bristol in 2005 as a Conference Executive, when I joined we were based in St Nicolas Church which was an interesting office space sharing it with Archaeologists and some very large religious artworks. Our exhibition kit was based in the crypt and the lights were on a timer system, so I you didn’t quickly find what you were looking for the lights would go off and you had to fumble around in the dark hoping to find your way out! Although I started working in Destination Bristol as a Conference Executive, I have worked in various roles within the company over the years. I am now back in the conference team where I am happiest as I have a strong conference background, having worked in the UK and Brussels for many years organising events for top management teams.

Do you have a typical day?

No day is not the same in the Meet Bristol department – but this keeps us out of mischief! Day-to-day my main focus is on managing and responding to incoming business client enquiries by phone, email or online for conference and event bookings. I also liaise with clients and venues on a daily basis, arrange site visits for clients and attend the visits with clients if needed. I follow up client enquiries on a regular basis to maximize the number of confirmed bookings. Everything is recorded in our online enquiry system Gratis and I also develop and promote the GroupMax system – an on line delegates accommodation system.

What’s your top tip for businesses working with Meet Bristol?

Always to keep us updated on any new information ornews stories, like refurbishment of venues and facilities, awards, special offers and any new PDF brochures. Always, always keep us updates on any changes in staff members so we have updated information and can contact the correct people and keep our membership database up to date. We all love Bristol and want to promote our fantastic city.

Vicki Webb - Conference & Business Tourism Coordinator

How long have you been with Meet Bristol and what do you do?

I joined Destination Bristol in 2014, on a maternity cover contract and have never left. My role is to concentrate on selling our beautiful city as a conference destination and increase sales and new business for the conference team.

Do you have a typical day ?

Everyday is different as I never know what I will get asked for.  I could get a request for duck herding, a conference for 1,000 delegates or even a cat show – the list is endless, which is why I love my job so much. 

What’s your top tip for businesses working with Meet Bristol?

To keep us up to date with everything that is happening in your business. We are very nosy people here at MB and we also get asked lots of different questions, so it nice to be aware of what is happening in the city as we can then spread the word. 

What is your favourite Bristol activity?

Eating -  Bristol has a brilliant variety of food establishments, ranging from great street food markets to Michelin starred restaurants. So much food, so little time…
