Role & Mission
Destination Bristol's role is:
- to improve the competitiveness and support the development of the tourism industry, a sector that, because of its dimensions and complexity and its importance to the city’s economy, requires a high level of co-ordination if it is to fulfil its potential;
- to manage the city centre via the Broadmead and Bristol City Centre Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and to deliver the programmes set out in their business plans;
- to support the development of partnerships locally and the industry;
- to contribute to the work of other agencies where it can use its influence, connections, and know-how, to improve the economic position of the city and the prospects of its citizens;
- to support the work of its members in ensuring relevant and cost effective marketing opportunities are available to promote individuals effectively alongside the destination brand and,
- to provide strategic leadership and a collective voice for the business sectors in the sub-region.
Destination Bristol’s mission is to lead, facilitate and support the promotion of the Bristol city region to visitors, and deliver services that:
- market Bristol and its visitor economy, its retail and cultural offers and promote the interests of the company’s members and partners;
- enhance the reputation of the city;
- ensure that Bristol city centre is safe, attractive and welcoming;
- provide significant improvements for the benefit of BID levy payers;
- encourage sustainable development and,
- improve the quality of the visitor experience;
- stimulate investment
