Doubletree Consolidates Position As Bristol City’s Best Four-Star Hotel

27th November 2017

Categories: Latest News

The DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre hotel has maintained its position as the best four-star venue in the city by one of the country’s leading rating bodies.

With an AA score of 80 per cent means the popular venue once again leads the way in the four-star city centre sector and caps off a successful year which has seen the Redcliffe Way-based hotel maintain excellent occupancy levels throughout 2017.

Helped by visitor ‘spikes’ from events such as the Champions League final and Coldplay Concerts in Cardiff plus a host of Bristol-based events including international cricket matches and concerts at the Lloyds Amphitheatre, General Manager John Dowling is now looking forward to 2018.

He is however a little cautious over what 2018 will bring with Glastonbury having a rest year and no additional sporting events earmarked to take place in the Welsh capital.

John said: “This is the third year in a row where we have improved our merit rating with the AA and I’d like to thank all the team who have worked tirelessly to make the hotel what it is.

“When visitors are looking for quality accommodation the merit rating is a great way for them to work out where to go. Having the best merit score, and one that has improved, sets us up well for the year ahead.

“We will however need to up our game when it comes to maintaining what have been very positive occupancy levels.

“With more hotels opening across the city, this puts increasing pressure on room rates and we have to make sure we’re at the top of our game when it comes to attracting both tourists and business people to our venue.

“Fortunately, being located in the heart of the city and being part of the DoubleTree brand does help attract those looking for quality accommodation.”

In summary the report said that the hospitality and service provided a good mix of a friendly welcome with helpful and efficient service.

It also said that all rooms appeared generally well decorated and furnished while the housekeeping displayed sound attention to detail throughout all areas of the hotel. In terms of the public areas the report said they appeared in generally good order including the well-furnished bar and lounges and the comfortable Kiln Restaurant.

In terms of food the report said both dinner and breakfast offered a good selection of well-cooked and presented dishes and all chosen dishes proved enjoyable.

John concluded: “Our hotel and Bristol in general will have its work cut out next year especially as a decision on The Arena still rumbles on!

“We will now look to build upon this success to make sure we keep attracting more people to do business and enjoy their leisure time in the capital of the West Country.”
