As the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta celebrates its 40th year, it has been announced that this year’s Fiesta will be brought to you in partnership with Bristol Energy.

This year Bristol Energy is also running an online competition in the run up to the Fiesta, to win a special balloon flight in its solar hybrid balloon over the course of the weekend.

And for every dual fuel switch to Bristol Energy during the balloon fiesta that uses the code FUELGOOD, Bristol Energy will donate up to £30 (£15 per fuel) to their Fuel Good Fund, helping to keep people warm and well in their homes, making this year a ‘Fuel Good Fiesta’.

It is estimated that four million people live in fuel poverty in the UK, with around 250,000 homes affected in Bristol. That means over 1 in 8 households in Bristol have to decide during the winter months whether to heat their homes or eat a cooked meal. Bristol Energy was set up to help and support energy-vulnerable houses in the city. The Fuel Good Fund will help to provide fuel vouchers, basic home repairs, budgeting advice, efficient light bulbs and help with energy bills for families who are struggling.

The Fiesta will take place at Ashton Court Estate between Thursday 9th and Sunday 12th August, with hundreds of thousands of visitors watching hundreds of colourful hot air balloons fill the skies.

A spectacular free event, the Fiesta will once again see more than 100 hot air balloons taking off at dawn and dusk, as well as the famous and hugely popular nightglows on Thursday and Saturday night, followed by fireworks.
With this year’s event marking four decades of the event, plans are underway to make it a Bristol International Balloon Fiesta to remember, with extra special balloons, displays and entertainment being lined up.

Created in 1978 by Don Cameron, owner of the world’s largest balloon manufacturer Cameron Balloons, and friends, the fiesta is now firmly established as Europe’s largest annual hot air balloon festival.
