Remembrance Sunday - Road Closures

7th November 2019

Categories: Latest News

The 2019 Remembrance Day Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 10 November in Bristol City Centre at the Cenotaph. Several roads will be closed for the event, with many closures beginning at 5am.

The annual parade, usually attended by between three to five thousand members of the public will be led by the Bristol University Officer Training Corps, based at The Artillery Grounds on Whiteladies Road.

Military units, cadet contingents, veterans and related groups will assemble on College Green, ready to march down to the Cenotaph on Colston Avenue for around 10.30am. They will be followed by a mounted police escort and dignitaries from Bristol who collectively make up the Civic Procession.

The Act of Remembrance will begin with a two minute silence at 11:00, followed by the laying of wreathes and short service.  The military parade, other contingents and the civic procession will return to College Green at the end of the service.

Councillor Jos Clark, Lord Mayor of Bristol, said: “Remembrance Sunday is a day for our nation to come together and pay our respects to the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service of their country.

In Bristol, military personnel and civilians alike will gather at the Cenotaph on Sunday 10 November, to remember the fallen and the sacrifices they made to protect us.

I would like to welcome all to join us, to gather along the parade route and witness what I am sure will be a very moving service.”

The order of Service can be downloaded via the following link

Members of the public are welcome to line the route to pay their respects.
