Digital visits to Clifton Suspension Bridge made possible via new website

Although currently closed to tourists due to Covid-19, Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitor Centre is now offering digital visitors an enhanced experience with a new website.

Work has carried on behind-the-scenes to ensure that visitors missing Brunel’s historic landmark can still get a taste of the engineering experience by visiting The new website offers fascinating facts about Bristol’s iconic structure and plenty of historical information alongside teaching resources for home-schoolers and historical information for armchair tourists and local history fans. Plus, families can find a whole page dedicated to lockdown resources.

Says Chris Booy, Chairman of Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust:

“On behalf of the board of trustees, I am thrilled to launch the new Clifton Suspension Bridge website. The team has worked hard behind-the-scenes to design a fitting site for visitors from all over the world to learn about Brunel’s iconic structure. As well as being well-designed, this is a website that works for audiences of today and the future.”

With a newly optimised design, the Clifton Suspension Bridge website is now easily accessed by mobile devices which will make life easier for commuters and sightseers alike. Although the bridge remains open for essential travel only, the Visitor Services team hope to be able to welcome tourists back soon.

When the Bridge is once again open again to visitors, the new website will provide all the details about upcoming events and activities and schools will shortly be able to plan and book digital activity sessions or future educational visits for students.
