The Singing for Wellbeing Workshop falls on 18 January, the third Monday of the month, known as Blue Monday and long claimed to be the most depressing day of the year.

This Blue Monday, perhaps more than any other in our lifetimes, falls during a difficult period for us all - a time when wellbeing feels paramount. As we find ourselves in another lockdown to protect people across the country's physical health - the New Room offers this free workshop to help the local community in Bristol, and beyond, to look after their wellbeing.

Singing is a mindful activity that demands full concentration, that helps us step outside daily life - focus our minds and embrace joy. It takes our thoughts away from worry and stress, providing so many benefits to our health and wellbeing.

The workshop will be led by trained music therapists Judit Soler-Almendros and Meg Brand. Judit and Meg also lead the Community Choir at the New Room, which has moved online during Lockdown. Open to all, the choir receives regular praise from members finding singing sessions “Fun, active and relaxing” and a great benefit to their emotional and mental health.

This special session will utilise Zoom for a fully immersive experience, providing an opportunity to connect with others and feel a part of a live workshop. More information can be found on the New Room website here:
