Destination Bristol has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best UK Convention Bureau category at the 2018 Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards.

Other contenders in the category are Convention Edinburgh, Glasgow Convention Bureau, Liverpool Convention Bureau, London & Partners, NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday 2 March, 2018 held at Battersea Evolution in London. The awards are decided by votes from UK based event organisers and the readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine.

Kathryn Davis, Head of Tourism at Destination Bristol, said; ‘We’re thrilled to be a finalist alongside five other great destination teams. It’s a reflection of the exceptional work of Destination Bristol’s dedicated convention bureau’s team and the willingness of venues, hotels, travel partners and activity providers to work together to deliver amazing experiences.  At the end of 2017, we received the news that we were ranked as 5th in the annual British Meetings & Events Industry Survey, our highest ever position, and so this has been an incredible continuation of all the hard work of our small team.’

Recent developments in and around the city include Ashton Gate Stadium’s new conference facilities including the largest meeting space in the South West, and the launch of Aerospace Bristol, where event delegates can step aboard Concorde Alpha Foxtrot or enjoy a gala dinner under its wings.  2018 will see exciting new developments including the launch of The Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin, new events space at Bristol Old Vic and exciting new opportunities to entertain at the new Being Brunel museum and St George’s Bristol redevelopment.

Destination Bristol is also in the running for Destination Management Organisation of the Year (UK Inbound) which will be announced in February and has been nominated as one of the top destinations for 2018 by a number of publications including The Irish Times, Luxe Adventure Traveler and National Geographic Traveller (UK).
