The Ice Age 4d Experience Comes To Wookey Hole Cave This February Half Term

9th February 2018

Categories: Latest News

Families looking for fun and thrills this February half term are in for a special treat as an adventure of mammoth proportions comes to Somerset tourist attraction Wookey Hole Caves.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs™ – The 4D Experience – has landed at Wookey just in time for the half term break and promises excitement for the whole family as they slip, slide, and soar with our sub-zero heroes in this 14-minute experience.

Manny, Ellie and Diego venture into a mysterious underground world after Sid the sloth stumbles across three abandoned eggs and decides to raise the baby dinosaurs as his own.  Once the eggs hatch, the adventure begins in the lost world of the dinosaurs.  Featured in eye-popping 3-D, the film features an all-star voice cast.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D Experience was developed by SimEx-Iwerks and brings the action to life by making guests feel like they are journeying alongside the gang, encountering obstacles that deliver more chills, more thrills, and more mammoth-sized laughs for everyone!
This thrilling experience is available for viewing everyday throughout the holidays, as part of the Wookey Hole Caves entry fee.

Wookey Hole Caves Director, Daniel Medley, said: “Audiences will experience every twist, turn, high and low as seats move in time to the 3D action on screen. You can expect to be blasted with wind and smoke, and you'll even be able to smell the action in this 4D motion ride!”

The historic tourist hotspot, known for its appeal for all ages and all weather, offers over 20 indoor and outdoor attractions. At the top of the bill, as ever, are the world famous caves which provide history, mystery and a stunning glimpse at caverns, tunnels and a secret river deep beneath the Mendip Hills.

The infamous cave tour now includes never-before-seen parts of the cave system including the impressive Chamber 20 with its unique rock formations and subterranean lake. Having blasted through 1000 tonnes of rock to expose the new tunnels and caverns, Wookey Hole Caves is one of the largest show cave systems in Europe.

Crowds will roll up to the infamous Circus Show created by Gerry Cottle and performed daily by young performers who unicycle, skate, juggle, hula hoop and trapeze their way around the theatre with some added magical illusions thrown in. This year Wookey is celebrating 250 years of the Circus, so viewers will be treated to more fun, theatrics and show stopping acts than ever before.

Visitors can also expect all the old favourites including meeting the Witch of Wookey Hole, Pirate Adventure Golf Course, Dinosaur Valley, museums, paper making demonstrations, play areas, mirror maze, penny arcade and more.

The new Wild Wookey adventure caving course is perfect for those daredevils seeking thrills and adventure. Priced separately to the infamous cave tour, this experience sees participants climb, crawl, abseil and traverse over water through mysterious passageways and tunnels deep beneath the Mendip Hills.

Daniel Medley continued: “A visit to Wookey is always fantastic value for money. We’re an all-weather venue and have over 20 indoor and outdoor activities, attractions and experiences to enjoy, all under one ticket price.

“The addition of the Ice Age 4D movie to our line-up is brilliant and we’re expecting to see families from all over the UK visiting this February.”

The introduction of exclusive accommodation on site and close by is sure to be a pull for families, couples and groups wanting to enjoy a few days exploring Somerset.
