Tour of Broadmead charity fundraiser returns for third year

24th July 2018

Categories: Press Releases

Following the success of the first two events in 2016 and 2017, the Tour of Broadmead static cycle challenge returns to Bristol Shopping Quarter for the third time from 28 July to 4 August when we will once again be raising money for eight different charities.

Staff on bikes for Tour of Broadmead

Organised by the Broadmead Business Improvement District (BID), the annual eight-day charity fundraiser is inspired by the Tour of Britain, which we are delighted to see returning to Bristol on Tuesday 4 September. Our volunteer cyclists will cover the full distance of that ‘Tour’, one stage each day, but they will be on static bikes so won’t ever leave Bristol Shopping Quarter.

The bikes are provided by PureGym Union Gate, who have been great supporters of the event from the get go, and their personal trainers will be providing some pedal power too. This year we are also working with The Galleries, who will be looking after the bikes each night as well as providing the event with an indoor location should it rain – if it’s dry, you’ll find the bikes and riders outside M&S.

This year’s charities include four, all making their Tour of Broadmead debut – YMCA Bristol, British Heart Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Above & Beyond. There are also three returning for the second time – PROPS, Penny Brohn UK, and St Peter’s Hospice. And one going for the hat trick – Southmead Hospital Charity. They are great causes and each one would welcome some extra volunteers to help them cover the distance!
