Queer Vision Film Festival

Queer Vision Film festival, presented by Bristol Pride, delivers a diverse programme of UK & International LGBT+ films including independently-made feature, animation and award-winning short films.

2024’s Film Festival will run from Saturday 29 June – Sunday 14 July.

Now in our 11th year of celebrating LGBT+ cinema, we believe in the importance of
seeing ourselves reflected on screen and the power of film for social change. We hold
regular events and activities all year round as well as our main festival during Bristol Pride
and aim to create a community of queer film lovers.

South West Submissions Now Open

Submissions for the South West Shorts programme are now open.

Queer Vision in Bristol are a nominating partner of the Iris Prize Best British Short. We are looking for an LGBT+ short film to nominate fromthe South West region. All entries must be 39 minutes or less, and should be for, about or of interest to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intersex audiences, and must have been completed within 2 years prior to the submission deadline (between 1 June 2022 and 2 June 2024).

To be eligible to make our shortlist of films to be screenedas part of Queer Vision Film Festival, during the Bristol Pride Festival, you should be permanently based in one of these South West counties:

Bath & NE Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Southampton, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay or Wiltshire.

Films will be chosen to be shown at Queer Vision Film Festival 2024.

2023 Festival Screenings

Queer Vision Film Festival (Sat 24 June – Sun 9 July), is bigger than ever this year – continuing to bring you a diverse programme of new release LGBT+ films from around the globe, including independently-made features and award-winning short films. There’ll be tears of joy and heartbreak, conversations started, talks, performance and empowerment as we aim to increase the visibility and accessibility of Queer media, creating a community that is a safe space to explore themes, and discuss the representations we see.

We now hold regular events and activities all year round as well as our main festival during Bristol Pride.

We support emerging and early career LGBT+ film makers in the Southwest Region and
beyond, with our South West Queer Filmmakers Network and our South West Queer
Shorts Competition, where we are very proud to partner with IRIS Prize as a selection
partner for their Best of British award, the winner from Bristol in 2018, ‘Beyond: There’s
Always a Black Issue, Dear’ went on to win the competition.
