Meet The HAUNT Bristol team working alongside the team at Visit Bristol.

Dr Matt Foley

Dr. Matt Foley is Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Literature at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is the author of Haunting Modernisms (Palgrave, 2017) and co-editor (with Dr Rebecca Duncan) of Patrick McGrath and his Worlds (Routledge, 2019). A member of the Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies, Matt is the academic lead for Manchester Met's Haunt project, and he is the administrator of the International Gothic Association’s Allan Lloyd Smith Memorial Prizes. Research-wise, he works predominantly on modernist literature, the gothic, and literary acoustics. Find him online at @MattFoleyLit

Emily Oldfield

Emily Oldfield is the Editor of Haunt Manchester at Manchester Metropolitan University. Having worked for a number of years as a local culture and media writer, she has been involved with the Haunt project from the onset in 2018. With a keenness for creating engaging, public-facing content with an alternative perspective on place, she is informed by Haunt’s related research centres, as well as other areas at Manchester Met including The Manchester Writing School and the Centre for Place Writing. She has also been involved in creating content for The Writing Manchester Map and co-curating events as part of The Gothic Manchester Festival 2019 and Foundations Festival. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Grit – inspired by the course of the River Irwell, is forthcoming from Poetry Salzburg. Find her online at @EmilyvOldfield

Laura Valentine

Laura Valentine is the Digital Marketing Manager at Visit Bristol and is charged with making sure VisitBristol.co.uk and all its associated digital campaigns promote Bristol and the surrounding area as a visitor destination nationally and internationally. Laura has worked in the company since 2013 and has seen Bristol tourism go through a huge change in that time. She is excited about uncovering and tapping into all the information availble to visitors about Bristol as an alternative destination with the Haunt Bristol project.
