Tel: +44 (0)1179466833
Bristol Cathedral hosts an atmospheric screening of Sergei Eisenstein's seminal silent film Battleship Potemkin on Tuesday 16th November.
Join them after dusk in this magnificent building, enjoy a welcome drink and then watch this piece of cinema history come to life. The film will be accompanied by a live, entirely improvised organ recital by the award-winning composer Dr. David Bednall, blending silent cinema with live music to create a unique performance that promises to bring the film to life in a dramatic new interpretation.
Eisenstein's bold dramatization of the infamous 1905 rebellion is one of the influential films of the 20th Century, with its influence visible everywhere from The Untouchables to The Godfather to Star Wars. It is consistently voted one of the greatest films of all time, and was a favourite film of Billy Wilder, Orson Welles and Charlie Chaplin. This screening will present a full restoration from Film Museum Berlin.
