Bristol Film Festival and Bristol Old Vic are delighted to introduce 'Theatre and Film', an exciting new partnership which explores the relationship between these two artistic mediums within the beautifully restored setting of Bristol Old Vic itself.
For this first screening they are bringing the 2003 docudrama Touching the Void to the big screen in Bristol Old Vic's Weston Studio.
Joe Simpson's best-selling memoir, turned BAFTA-winning film was recently adapted for the stage, premiering at Bristol Old Vic in September 2018 under the direction of Tom Morris (War Horse, Messiah). This event precedes the play's return to the venue this spring.
The screening will begin with a talk about the film and its adaptation for the stage, and the remarkable events that inspired both. The event includes a 30-minute interval with a complimentary drink in the magnificently restored Coopers' Hall.
This event is hosted in partnership with Bristol Old Vic and Burston Cook.
There will be two screenings of the film.
