Bristol Holocaust Memorial Day at City Hall
Tel: +44 (0)117 922 4737
Bristol commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day 2020 with a free public event on Monday 27 January, featuring Holocaust educator Dame Helen Hyde, who also specialises in the Rwandan genocide, and Holocaust survivor Annick Lever.
There will also be live streamed video from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland, marking 75 years since the camp was liberated. Plus, this year marks 20 years since the Bosnian genocide.
The aim is to raise awareness of Nazi persecution and the Holocaust, as well as subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. This year's theme, chosen by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, is 'Stand Together'.
The event also includes insight from Bristol sixth form students on their visit to Auschwitz, and a speech from Lord Mayor Jos Clark.
Everyone is welcome, and there will be a hearing loop and BSL interpreters provided. The venue is fully accessible.
