Bristol and Bath need your help as the two cities unite to compete with over 160 city regions on 7 continents as we show the world how amazing our region is for people and nature during the 2019 City Nature Challenge. Defending our 2018 title of most observations in Europe, together we will embark on an epic contest: to discover and record as much wildlife as possible over 4 days.
Taking part in City Nature Challenge is easy. Simply download the free iNaturalist app and start uploading photos of all the wild plants, animals and fungi you find. To count towards the challenge photos must be taken between 26-29 April from within the four local authority boundaries that make up the West of England (Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset) plus WWT Slimbridge Wetlands Centre.
By taking part you’ll be contributing to local, national and global datasets on urban nature to be used by the likes of scientists, conservationists, land managers, municipalities and urban planners. This rich data will help authorities make informed conservation decisions and help secure a future for your local wildlife.
