Halloween at Brunel's SS Great Britain
Tel: +44 1179 260680
Step aboard Brunel’s historic ship this Halloween for a fun day out with just the right amount of creepiness!
Tales of the macabre run throughout the SS Great Britain's history, outbreaks of disease and accidents on board meant that over 149 people perished on the ship. Some say her cabins are still haunted by these lost lives today...
Follow the Global Traveller Trail to experience the grim realities of life in steerage, spot the shadows of scurrying rats and listen out for the creaking steps of phantom intruders.
Though the SS Great Britain has a majestic presence, she was a stinky place to be in her prime. The ghastly smell of communal toilets and stale linen were relentless during 60-day voyages to Australia. Experience these smells for yourself on a pungent treasure hunt, there are 12 scents to discover, from the stench of vomit to the smell of freshly baked bread.
You can even dress up as a passenger in the Victorian photographic studio. Flash Bang Wallop has reopened in the Dockyard Museum just in time for the school holidays. Pose for portraits in bonnets, monkey jackets and frockcoats to create your own Victorian souvenir.
