The return of Mayfest, produced and curated by Bristol Old Vic Associates MAYK, bring the change of innovation to a city which thrives on it.
This year, Mayfest will once again take over the city with some of the best and brightest theatre from around the world. Bristol Old Vic is hosting the festival’s flagship production in the theatre where Mayfest began back in 2002.
This is a free show that will take place in The Galleries Shopping Centre and involves a choir singing words that are written at that very moment by little children. It will be something that people can stumble upon and also something that people can plan in advance. The choir is being selected from Bristol and is a nice example of Mayfest connecting with the city.
This will be a beautiful vocal piece that will take place in three different venues — Bristol Cathedral, St. George’s Bristol and also Barton Hill Settlement so will be a brilliant way for us to see how very different audiences react to the work
Japanese dancers/artists and Bristolian participants in a unique physical theatre show.
The Nature of Why
The Nature of Why brings together dance and live music into an epic and beautiful performance. Featuring a cinematic live-score from Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory, an ensemble of musicians from the acclaimed British Paraorchestra and four extraordinary dancers.
Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story
Direct from off Broadway, this show is simply amazing. It’s about how to love after being broken by the horrors of war. It's about refugees who get out before it's too late, and those who get out after it's too late. And it's about looking into the eyes of God.
