The Bookblast 10x10 Tour: A Celebration of Risk-taking Publishing at Waterstones
Tel: +44 (0)117 925 2274
The Bookblast 10x10 Tour, supported by Waterstones, will arrive in Bristol on 18th October. The tour is travelling throughout England this autumn, showcasing innovative and challenging writing from some of the UK's best independent publishers.
This event celebrates the wonderful HopeRoad publisher – HopeRoad promotes inclusive literature with a focus on Africa, Asia and the Caribbean; and vigorously supports often neglected voices. Many of HopeRoad's YA titles focus on issues dealing with identity, cultural stereotyping and disability.
This event will explore the writing of Pete Kalu and Qaisra Shahraz and look at place and identity, the shadows and the light, nationality and boundaries...the talk will be rooted in much that is pertinent to Bristol and its migrant history.
The tour has been put together by the brilliant Georgia de Chamberet, founder of the trailblazing agency, Bookblast. Her motivation to promote the more radical face of literature comes from a desire to support the entrepreneurial, small companies, more than often self-financing, who are operating in a turbulent publishing industry. As she says, 'There is strength in numbers: the future belongs to those who collaborate!'
