Victorian Christmas Weekends at Brunel's SS Great Britain

About
Join Brunel's SS Great Britain this December to celebrate a very festive Victorian Christmas, with guests from the Ragged Victorians living history group. There'll also be a visit from a special Father Christmas to the site, for the very first time!
The festive celebrations will take place over three weekends in December:
4 - 5 December
11 - 12 December
18 - 19 December
Step back in time to enjoy a wintry dockyard and a cast of historic characters, including an ‘Old Father Christmas’ in Victorian green robes. Find him aboard the ship, where the saloons and cabins will be adorned with traditional handmade decorations, or spot him wandering around the joyous dockyard. Why not stop him for a story about Victorian Christmas traditions, or perhaps you want to find out why he’s green!
Visitors entering Brunel’s Shakespeare Room can see further examples of traditional Victorian Christmas decorations from the 1840’s and 50’s including an authentically decorated Christmas tree, Christmas crackers (a Victorian invention) and a copy of the world’s first Christmas Card designed by Brunel’s brother-in-law Sir John Callcott Horsley!
Keep your eyes peeled as there will be family activities and plenty of seasonal sights, sounds and smells to be announced soon.
