City centre shopping
Bristol Shopping Quarter is home to hundreds of well-known brands such as Primark and TK Maxx, as well as a multitude of independent shops spread out across the pedestrianised area of Broadmead and in The Galleries shopping centre.
Cabot Circus shopping centre is home to over 100 stylish shops, bars and restaurants, with more across the road in Quakers Friars, including Harvey Nichols and the Apple store. Once you’re done shopping, you can stick around for a game of crazy golf or dinner and cocktails. Cabot Circus also offers Click & Collect services, family rooms, and a Shopmobility centre.
Take your pick from historic markets, quirky shops and buzzing bars and restaurants in the Old City. Start off by exploring the maze of stalls at St Nicholas Market (which has been trading since 1743!), before wandering along the grand neighbouring streets to spot booksellers, retro shops and the city's oldest chocolate maker, Guilberts.
The walk up the hill is worth it for the range of shops on Park Street & Queens Road, where you’ll find a range of vintage shops, independent businesses and cafes.
As much as Wapping Wharf has a strong reputation for its restaurants, there are also plenty of exciting shops to explore, whether you want to stock up on some ethically-sourced groceries from Better Food Co, Meatbox, Clifton Seafood Company or The Bristol Cheesemonger, or pick up some pretty gifts and homewares at Fig1.
Shop in Bristol’s local neighbourhoods
Don’t just stick to the city centre, venture out into the districts close by to experience vibrbant high streets and an even bigger range of Bristol businesses!
Clifton Village is full of classy boutiques on its picturesque streets – don't miss Clifton Arcade and the area around Princess Victoria Street for the best selection of jewellery shops, delis and homewares. Nearby on Whiteladies Road, you’ll find more practical shopping options, including up-market furniture shops, bookstores, estate agents and food shops, as well as an artisan food market every Saturday.
Gloucester Road is the place to go for quirky shops and vintage clothing. It’s the longest stretch of independent businesses in the city, so you won’t be short of choice, with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to refuel at on the way. Head closer to town to explore the galleries and arty shops of Stokes Croft, where you’ll also find some of the city’s top music venues and nightlife.
Just a short distance from the harbour to the south of the city, Bedminster and Southville are popular areas for shopping, socialising and dining. North Street is home to the Tobacco Factory, which not only has a large cafe-bar and theatre spaces, but also hosts a market every Sunday. You’ll also find a host of other award-winning local businesses including Bristol Beer Factory, Zara’s Chocolates, COR and street art gallery shop Upfest.
Cribbs Causeway
Cribbs Causeway offers the ultimate indoor shopping mall experience in Bristol. It's the largest of its kind in the south west and is a favourite for locals and visitors with over 150 stores, including John Lewis, Apple, Marks & Spencer, Next and Lush.
Cribbs is located on the M4 and M5 interchange so if you're travelling through Bristol it's a great place to break up your journey and stretch your legs as you wander the two floors of shops. It's open until late, has a wide choice of restaurants and thousands of free car parking spaces so it makes the perfect place to grab a bite to eat.
