Henleaze Concert Society 'Blown Away' at Trinity-Henleaze Unified Reformed Church
About
A great programme of music for wind instruments performed by players from the Bristol Ensemble:
o Mozart: Serenade for Wind in C minor K.388
o Dvořák: Serenade for Winds in D minor Op.44
First, the powerful and characterful C minor serenade by Mozart, is a four movement work full of ingenuity, twists and turns.
Dvořák's Serenade for Winds in D minor was his own Serenade for Winds written after hearing Mozart's B flat major work for wind ensemble. It is unmistakably Czech, and an homage to music-making in Czech palaces and stately homes.
The pre-concert talk with Steve Clarke begins at 6.45pm. Doors open at 6.15pm for the talk and at 7.15pm for the concert only.
The season's concerts are performed by Bristol Ensemble, the city's only resident professional orchestra.
