About
Sand Point is a limestone peninsula sticking out into the Bristol Channel. Situated at one end of Sand Bay.
Sand Point is made of limestone with unusual volcanic intrusions that juts into the Bristol Channel. There is plenty of space, great views across the Bristol Channel to Wales, and up the Bristol Channel to the Severn bridges and lots of wildlife and archaeological features to explore. You can look back across the expanse of Sand Bay and see Birnbeck Pier.
There are beautiful walks to discover. A shorter 1 mile walk exploring the Huckers Bow salt marshes, past the Woodspring Priory. Or a longer 3 mile route takes you on a circular coastal walk around Sand Point.
This walk has some steep climbs and some very uneven, narrow and craggy terrain. Please take care near the cliff edges as there are steep drops so keep children and dogs supervised at all times. There are a couple of stiles to climb over and the ground is generally uneven along the walk. Sturdy footwear and suitable walking gear are advisable. There are also free roaming cattle that graze - please respect them and their environment and do not take your dog if it is not good around cows.
There are no refreshment or toilet facilities so it is advisable to take refreshments with you and allow ample time to complete the walk in daylight.
