Sporting Events in Bristol
Find out about spectator sports and the latest fixtures in Bristol as well as some great participatory events. When you’re in the city you’ll have the choice of seeing live sport including football, rugby, cricket, basketball and ice hockey.
The Great Bristol Run takes place each spring with both 10km and marathon events around the city. Don’t miss the Weston-super-Mare Half Marathon in March which offers runners a varied route including closed roads, a nature reserve, beach section and a finish on a pier!
Bristol often hosts national and international sporting fixtures for rugby and cricket, and in 2025 Ashton Gate will host the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Bristol Rovers play at The Memorial Stadium and Bristol City Play at Ashton Gate Stadium where Bristol City WFC also play in the Women’s Super League. The stadium is also the home of Premiership rugby’s Bristol Bears and Bristol Bears Women.
For cricket fans, Bristol-based Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of the 18 first-class professional clubs in the UK. The Seat Unique Stadium is just off Gloucester Road also hosts Western Storm Matches and international one-day fixtures. Don’t miss an evening T20 Blast game in the summer months, great for an evening out with friends – book hospitality seats for that special occasion.
You can also watch basketball at Bristol Flyers home SGS WISE Arena, or Bristol Pitbulls ice hockey at Planet Ice.
One of the biggest equestrian dates in the calendar, Badminton Horse Trials, takes place on our doorstep in South Gloucestershire. Huge crowds gather for the three-day event which includes dressage, cross-country and showjumping, as well as the not-to-be-missed, Shetland Pony Grand National.
