BoxHall

A new destination dining hub and event space from the team behind BoxPark in London is coming to the Welsh Back waterfront in June. The food hall will host indie restaurants, street food traders and pop-ups for all-day dining, live music and events.

Exhibitions

SEE MONSTER

As part of the UK-wide project UNBOXED: Creativity, a decommissioned North Sea offshore platform will be transformed into a public art installation in Weston-super-Mare. SEE MONSTER will be situated in the Tropicana, a former Art Deco lido, and promises to be an immersive, sensory art experience, harnessing renewable energy from the natural elements, celebrating the Great British Weather and exploring the concept of re-using inherited structures.

Grayson’s Art Club at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

If you loved Grayson’s Art Club when it aired on Channel 4, don’t miss this exhibition. It features artwork selected by Grayson Perry from season two of the show, where famous artists, creatives and the public were invited to respond creatively to lockdown.

Think Global, Act Bristol at M Shed

From 25 June to October, M Shed is running an exhibition and public engagement programme addressing Bristol’s role in the climate and ecological crises, past, present and future.

Exhibitions at Spike Island

Spike Island has an eclectic mix of exhibitions next year from world-renowned pioneering creatives including Candice Lin’s Pigs and Poison exploring marginalised histories and colonial legacies (5 February – 8 May) and Eric Baudelaire and Alvin Curran’s exhibition When There is No More Music to Write (28 May – 18 September).

The World Reimagined

The World Reimagined is a ground-breaking, national art education project to transform how we understand Transatlantic Slavery. The project will see a trail of large Globe sculptures in Bristol from August 2022 through to October during Black History Month, bringing to life the reality and impact of Transatlantic Slavery. 

Events

Slapstick Festival

Bristol’s annual celebration of silent screen and classic comedy is back for its 18th edition from 26 to 30 January. Around a third of the live events will be streamed online as they happen, so you can get involved from anywhere in the world.

Bristol Light Festival

After a hugely successful inaugural event in 2020, Bristol Light Festival is set to return in early 2022, brightening up the city centre with interactive light installations.

Upfest

After three years’ break, Europe’s biggest free street art and graffiti art festival returns to the streets and parks of south Bristol. Catch the arty action in and around Greville Smyth Park, Ashton Gate Stadium and the Tobacco Factory on 28 and 29 May, with murals set to start emerging in the lead up from 5 May.

Love Saves The Day

It’s a special year for Love Saves The Day – they’re celebrating 10 years of the festival and it promises to be bigger and better than ever, taking place at new home Ashton Court Estate on 2 & 3 June.

Discover new favourite beers at this annual celebration of brewing culture on 10 and 11 June, with varieties from over 40 specially selected breweries to sample.

Bristol Pride

The award-winning festival will span two weeks in summer from 27 June to 10 July, popping up in various venues across the city. Events to look out for include the return of Pride Day on 9th July, Pride Night, the ever-popular Dog Show, plus comedy, theatre, poetry and circus. Bristol Pride's Queer Vision Film Festival will also make a welcome return.

Bristol Harbour Festival

The iconic Bristol Harbour Festival will be celebrating a special anniversary after two years of delays due to Covid. Visit in July to be a part of the 50th birthday bash, with the usual mix of music, maritime fun and markets.

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

Watch over 100 hot air balloons gather for mass ascents, tethered displays and the highly anticipated Night Glow spectacles at the highly anticipated fiesta in August.
