In August, our African Lioness Arusha gave birth to two healthy male cubs, Kojo and Tau.

When the lion cubs were born, Arusha and Masai were separated for safety and to make sure she didn’t become pregnant again, as it’s important to ensure that lions are not overbred in the UK.

Once the boys were big enough and Arusha had her contraceptive implant reinserted, it was time to reunite the family.

After six months of living side by side, Masai ran back into his enclosure he shared with Arusha before the boys were around.

Kojo and Tau, his sons, were happy to have a new big playmate, whereas Masai wasn’t too sure. They enjoyed chasing Dad around the enclosure, as Mum kept a watchful eye.

After a tiring day of being chased, the family of big cats have been seen lazing around in the lovely weather together.
