Bristol Walking Tour / Bristol Highlights Walk
About
The Bristol Highlights walk brings alive Bristol’s 1,000 year history as a port from the late Saxon period in the 10th-Century up to the present day and the commercial operations of Avonmouth Docks and Royal Portbury Docks, both part of Bristol. The walk will incorporate a summary of Bristol’s participation in transatlantic slavery, Isambard Brunel’s achievements in Bristol including the building of the SS Great Western, the SS Great Britain, his design of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and his building of the Great Western Railway from London to Bristol.
The walk will also include reference to Piracy and Blackbeard, Banksy and street art and will take in the City Centre, Denmark Street, Park Street, College Green (the location of City Hall and Bristol Cathedral), Millennium Square, the Floating Harbour (previously our City Docks), John Cabot’s statue outside the Arnolfini, Queen Square, King Street and the Old Town of Bristol including St Nicholas Markets.
The Bristol Highlights walk is conducted fortnightly on Saturdays at 11.30am commencing Saturday 2 April 2022 and finishing Saturday 29 October 2022. The meeting point for the start of the walk is outside the entrance to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Broad Quay, Bristol BS1 4BY.
Duration of walk approximately 2.5hrs.
Cost: £12 per person (Children 5-15 years £7)
During Bristol Walk Fest in May 2022, prices will be discounted, Adults £10 Children 5-15 years £5.
The walk is presently being run with a limit of 15 persons and needs to be pre-booked.
