About
Escape into the beautiful Somerset countryside for a day of wine and cheese tasting and lunch at a famous local restaurant!
You'll meet your group in central Bristol where you'll hop aboard the tour minibus that will be your transport for the day.
The first stop is a natural, biodynamic vineyard with breathtaking views over Chew Valley Lake! You'll learn about the biodynamic approach to viticulture and the impact it has on both of flavour of the wine and the land and you'll taste two of these unique wines.
Then there will be a stop for lunch at the amazing (Michelin-starred!) The Pony Chew Valley, run by Josh Eggleton! You'll enjoy an exclusive lunch, profiling the best local ingredients. You'll also get a special tour of the restaurant, garden and cookery school, from Josh himself (availability dependent)! Please note, lunch is included in the price of the tour.
From here the group will head to the village of Cheddar, where you'll have time to explore this charming village before taking a tour of a dairy that produces the only cheddar cheese made in Cheddar and taste some of their wonderful cheeses.
Next, a second vineyard cultured by the inspiring Ingrid. Ingrid has a passion for planet-friendly growing techniques and grows beautiful grapes for delightful wine. And, of course, you'll taste some of her fabulous wine!
About your host:
Your host for the day is Florence! She is a food and sustainability expert who has worked in the sector for over a decade in education, research, policy and more. Florence's extensive knowledge of food and farming adds a richness of learning and interesting insights throughout the day whilst you are tucking into the best of the West's produce. She is also a long-term Bristol resident, with plenty of tips and recommendations for your time in this beautiful part of the world.
There will be the opportunity to purchase wine and cheese along the way if you would like to, so bring a spare bag just in case!
