The Roman Carnaval overture by Berlioz - his most virtuosic and most popular - sets the scene for this concert in what Queen Elizabeth I called the "fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in England".
Elgar's Enigma Variations need no introduction, and this favourite if all English music - including the famous 'Nimrod' is sure to sound magnificent in this glorious building. To finish this summer evening, Mendelssohn's incidental music to A Midsummer Night's Dream; stuffed with musical gems including, of course, the infamous Wedding March. There will be a retiring collection for Headway Bristol.
