Introduction to Forest Gardening at Grow Wilder
About
Join Grow Wilder to explore the fantastic world of forest gardening! Forest gardens, or food forests, combine edible, useful, and complimentary perennial plants in a layered system. Incorporating fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, and perennial vegetables, this approach creates a productive, low-maintenance, and sustainable food-growing system adaptable to any size space. These systems, while complex, are also highly productive, efficient, resilient, and packed with variety and biodiversity.
They're delighted to welcome Rob Handy to lead this course and share his wealth of knowledge. With 13 years of experience planning, establishing, and developing his own productive forest garden in East Harptree, Rob brings invaluable insights.
This 1-day course will delve into the fundamental principles of forest garden design, key considerations when planning and implementing these principles, forest garden layers, and plant selection. Participants will gain insights into successes and opportunities using Rob's forest garden and Grow Wilder as examples.
The course blends classroom and outdoor learning experiences. The classroom space and most of the forest garden are wheelchair accessible. For those with no or reduced income, there's one discounted ticket available; interested individuals can contact learning@avonwildlifetrust.org.uk for booking.
By supporting these courses and workshops, participants directly contribute to Grow Wilder's mission, including site maintenance, learning program development, and fair compensation for tutors. Your support is greatly appreciated!
