About
Live music is at the heart of The Canteen. Since opening in 2009 it has cemented its place in Bristol’s music network. Live bands play six nights a week and entry is free every day, with a small charge on Friday & Saturday nights after 9:30pm.
The line up is an eclectic mix of bands ensuring the program stays fresh and relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds including folk, afrobeat rock and club nights. With a focus on new and original music, World music, jazz and folk.
The bookings reflect the wider rhythm of the week with calmer early week increasing in tempo and volume to the weekend. Sunday bands are a laid-back affair, something to ease the end of your week, and from 7pm, resident house DJs pick up the pace with Sunday Sessions night. Spinning strictly vinyl, these nights offer fellow hospitality folk a chunky discount off selected booze.
