About
Bringing a contemporary taste of Tokyo to Clifton Village, KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar comes from the same team behind their award-winning Japanese restaurant in Cheltenham, well-known for its signature sushi rolls, exotic cocktails and equally exotic interiors.
Designed with a vision to transport guests to the eclectic streets of Japan, KIBOU’s trademark hand painted murals visually depict Japanese street life, whilst the incorporation of a network of vibrant Japanese red acers adds a real touch of glamour.
There’s a range of eating and drinking areas to choose from too, from the large bar, lounge and dining areas on the ground floor, to the sushi bar and open kitchen, cosy booths and relaxed seating areas on the 2nd floor. Plus, at ground level, the doors fully open to lead onto an extended patio area for a bit of al fresco action.
The menu at KIBOU centres on their signature sushi rolls, such as the famous Volcano Roll - salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and served with house sauces, plus also features a range of other classic and contemporary Japanese dishes. Dive into steaming bowls of ramen, freshly prepared katsu curry, crisp tempura, pillowy bao buns and handmade gyozas. There’s a standalone vegan menu too that’s packed full of meat-free options, plus a kid’s menu that also doubles up as an origami challenge to keep your little ones entertained!
Afternoon tea
KIBOU serve afternoon tea with a Japanese twist. The menu features a tasters of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, including sushi, sashimi and traditional Japanese sweets. There is also a vegetarian afternoon tea menu available.
Priced at £19 per person for the vegetarian version and £21 per person for the classic, this elegant afternoon tea is served as standard with a choice of Japanese teas and infusions – such as delicately fragrant jasmine or the sweet and nutty notes of genmaicha – green tea with toasted brown rice.
Cocktails
To complement the restaurant offering, their bar serves an ambitious selection of Japanese whisky and sake along with Japanese brewed beers, authentic high-balls and signature Japanese-inspired cocktails. Their classic KIBOU is a must-try – a truly elegant cocktail combining gin, bergamot, lychee and rose vermouth, garnished with fresh flowers and served in a ‘look at me’ glass that’s as eye-catching as the venue!
Lunch or dinner, KIBOU’s menu has something to suit everyone, but make sure you leave room for dessert, as their Japanese twist on a range of classic puds is the perfect round-off to any occasion. Head here for romantic date nights, relaxed lunches or fun-fuelled evenings catching up with family and friends. Plus enjoy late-night cocktails every Friday and Saturday with the bar open until 1am.
