About
Festive readings from BBC Radio 4’s The Archers’ John Telfer, festive favourites from the Cathedral Choir, and a chance to join in with Christmas Carols.
Starting in near darkness, the cathedral choir process down the cathedral, singing, and carrying candles, to start this concert and bring the magic of Christmas to Bristol.
A choir has been singing on the site of the Cathedral since the Augustinian monastery was founded in 1140. When the church formally became Bristol Cathedral in 1542, its statutes required that provision be made for the development and maintenance of the choir, whose role was to sing the praises of God.
