These are uncertain times for the tourism and hospitality industry, with attractions, museums, restaurants, hotels and many other businesses all closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic while we stay home and stay safe.

Purchasing vouchers and gift cards to be used later in the year or making a donation are ways to support the Bristol businesses you know and love, had planned to visit during this time or hope to visit in the future. Inspired by our friends at Visit Manchester, here are some of those with options to Pay It Forward.

Attractions

Bristol Zoo Gardens

Gift membership and gift experiences, which include playing at being keeper for a day or getting up close to exciting animals, are all valid for one year and can be purchased here. There’s also the option to donate to the Bristol Zoological Society.

Wild Place Project

As with the Zoo, you can purchase vouchers for gift membership and experiences, plus sponsor a plank in Bear Wood or even adopt one of its inhabitants. Vouchers are valid for up to one year from date of purchase.

You can also contribute to the conservation of this iconic ship by making a donation

We The Curious

You can buy a Gift membership for hands-on science centre We The Curious, which starts from the date you redeem the voucher.

Aerospace Bristol

Help Aerospace Bristol, the museum charting the city’s illustrious aeronautical history, return to flight by donating the value of a visit

Bristol Aquarium

Tickets for the Aquarium are available from their online shop and are valid for 6 months from time of purchase, so you can buy now and visit later.

Watershed

You can support this cross-artform venue by buying a gift voucher (valid for 12 months), making a donation or sponsoring a cinema seat and having your name, message or favourite quote become a permanent piece of Watershed.

Bristol Museums

Show your support for Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed, The Georgian House Museum, Red Lodge Museum and Blaise Museum by donating to Bristol Museums Development Trust

Royal West of England Academy

As well as donating or purchasing a Friends Membership or Art Pass, you can take part in this year's Secret Postcard Auction online or buy yourself a piece of art from the online art gallery. Tickets you've already bought can be swapped for a gift voucher or changed into a donation instead.

Hotels

Hilton Hotels

Purchase a Hilton gift card and it’s valid for 12 months at any of the following hotels: DoubleTree by Hilton (Bristol City Centre and Bristol North), Hampton by Hilton (Bristol Airport and Bristol City Centre), and Hilton Garden Inn Bristol

Buy vouchers from £5 to £40 for your favourite independent restaurants, bars and cafes through Wriggle’s new Indie Kitty. The money goes directly to the venue (fees by the app are being waived) and you can redeem them once they reopen.

Bristol Food Union

There are several other ways to support the city's farms, food producers and restaurants, several of which have been rounded up on this website for the Bristol Food Union, including local food deliveries, donating to the Bristol Food Fund or buying a meal for a frontline worker in the NHS.

Experiences

Elite Air

Balloon flight vouchers are available to buy online. Existing vouchers will be extended by six months from the date it is safe to start flying once more. Celebrate a birthday or anniversary with a 'balloon in a box' - a helium balloon delivered to the recipient with a flight voucher for them to book when it suits them and it is safe to fly again.

Bailey Balloons

Any balloon flight vouchers purchased from Bailey Balloons will be valid for one year from when they restart flights.

Bristol Balloons

Give yourself a balloon ride from Bristol Balloons to look forward to with a deposit voucher. Pay a deposit of £40 now for a Champagne Classic Flight Voucher and the rest of the £105 balance by 1 August 2020.
