Amelia Stone, Growth and Relationship Manager for loyalty app Pixie, introduces us to some of her favourite Bristol independents for #FoodFriday.
Bravas
Who doesn’t love tapas? And Bravas is a top-quality tapas spot. The menu is full of delicious options, with all the Spanish classics you’d expect, as well as a few different things if you want to expand your tastebuds.
The first things I always order, and would highly recommend, is the fried aubergine with molasses and also the boquerones, they’re both absolutely amazing.

East Village
I love this café, and it is one of our Pixie independents! Found in super trendy Clifton Village, everything here is vegan and lots of it is homemade too. It’s a go-to for me when I’m craving pastries, but it’s all tasty. It’s also great for your daily caffeine fix as they have some unusual coffee here, like the lavender latte and salted caramel mocha. The shop is also used as a home décor shop and you’ll feel right at home as soon as you enter.
Nadu
Based in Stokes Croft, Nadu is one of my firm favourites. It has a really cool vibe, from their colourful exterior, vibrant and modern inside and, of course, the incredible food. It has the best, and importantly, biggest dosas in town — I could eat them every day.
Nadu is all about celebrating their Sri Lankan heritage and the owners, Raja and Saravanan, have cooked up a delicious menu full of traditional dishes, but all with a modern twist. I couldn’t recommend it more, it’s perfect for any occasion.
Bosco
Bosco has quickly become one of those places that is on everyone’s favourites list and it’s not hard to see why. There are two in Bristol, Whiteladies Road and Clifton, and another location in Bath, offering some of the very best Italian food around.
The star of the show at Bosco has got to be their pizza, and if you sit along the counter you can watch the chefs making it right in front of you. This is a great spot for a date night or maybe a fancy get-together with friends or family.
Kask
This is another Pixie independent, so if you do stop by make sure to use Pixie! Kask is a great spot for a chilled glass of wine and a plate of cheese, the ideal evening. They are passionate about serving only the very best wine, all from small, independent producers.
I particularly love the tasting evenings they have here, either virtual or in-person, as it’s a really fun way to discover new wine. Kask is cosy and relaxed, especially if you get a table in the window to watch the world go by.
