Bristol is the perfect city to treat your team to incentive travel experiences. Brimming with culture, adventure and brilliant places to eat and drink, there are a whole host of ways you can reward staff, that will genuinely excite and inspire them.

We’ve curated top incentive experiences in Bristol guaranteed to smash expectations and deliver a morale boost. Which would your team love?

Explore one of Bristol’s museums

Bristol has an abundance of museums. Just as a taster, there’s the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery with its art, archaeology, geology and natural history collections; Aerospace Bristol, dedicated to the city’s impressive aeronautical past; cutting-edge science centre We The Curious, and treasure trove of local history M Shed. For incentives that pack a cultural punch, the museums can each offer exclusive experiences, such as out-of-hours private hire and tours or a unique space for teambuilding activities.

Surf at The Wave

One of Bristol’s newest and most impressive attractions is The Wave, an inland surfing lake where 1000 safe, consistent waves are pumped out every hour. Corporate groups are invited to book in for a fun, healthy, back-to-nature learning adventure.

No experience is required, although more advanced surfers are also catered to, if you’re a group that’s already keen on surfing. Venue hire is available should you want to extend the away day beyond your surf lesson, with spaces including the natural light-filled restaurant, an outdoor first-floor terrace, and covered areas among the surrounding gardens and woodland.

Vineyard tours at Aldwick Estate

Treat your team to a tour of this serene vineyard, swapping the office for their 11 acres of grape vines in the Mendip Hills. A history of the vineyard, the traditions and processes behind their award-winning wines, and a tasting session with samples of the available vintages are all included. Perfect for any groups who would relish getting into the countryside and appreciate a good glass of vino.

First-class food and drink

Bristol dishes up a delightful array of food and drink and there are countless foodie incentives that you can send your staff on. As well as distillery, brewery and vineyard tours as mentioned above, delegates can get hands-on in cooking lessons at Cooking It with Monica or at My Thai Kitchen.

Special places for group dining can be found throughout Bristol too, including many with private dining rooms for intimate get-togethers. With everything from French cuisine at Hotel du Vin to a matchside dinner in an Executive Box at Ashton Gate Stadium, it's easy to find a fitting setting where you can raise a glass of thanks to your team over quality food.

Aardman Away Days

Renowned for iconic creations such as Wallace and Gromit, Morph and Shaun the Sheep, Academy Award-winning animation studio Aardman is hard to beat as a creative incentive destination. Your team can meet expert model makers, learn how to sculpt classic characters and create their own simple animation. Learning theory is woven into the activities, with Aardman tailoring the session to your brand’s individual interests and needs.

Create your own street art

Bristol is the canvas for some incredible street art. Hand the spray can over to your team for their very own private street art session with Where The Wall or Graft. Both companies can put on painting and stencilling activities for a creative release and a chance to bond in a light-hearted environment. Request a private tour of the city’s most famous street art, to give your delegates inspiration from the very best, Banksy included.

Send highfliers hot air ballooning

The view from a hot air balloon makes a spectacular reward for your star employees. Bristol has a long history of ballooning and is host to one of Europe’s biggest hot air balloon festivals, hence why it’s a hotspot for flights. There are three local companies – Bristol Balloons, Bailey Balloons and Elite Air (UK) Ltd – who can arrange for your team to take off, when the conditions are right.

During the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is always a favourite time to fly, as mass ascents of up to 100 balloons float high together. Whatever the time of year, drifting gently above the city with an aerial view on historic landmarks and the surrounding countryside is an unforgettable experience. Team spirit will get a boost too, as everyone pitches in to set up and pack away the balloon.

Glassmaking at the Original Bristol Blue Glass Studio

Book in a bauble blowing experience at the Original Bristol Blue Glass Studio to give your group an unusual creative incentive. They’ll learn all about this traditional art and the studio’s local history and significance from the skilled glassmakers that keep this hub of design and creativity going.

A bonus of the experience is that everyone takes home a souvenir that they can feel proud of having handmade, using no moulds or machines. It can be a great incentive at Christmas time, when newly made baubles can hang on the tree.
