This week’s #FoodFriday comes from Queen Square Run Club’s Matt Dorber – find out where he and his fellow club members like to enjoy a post-run bite to eat.

Pippin Doughnuts

The BEST doughnuts in Bristol. Every Friday our group meets for a 7.30am run, finishing at St Nicks Market for a doughnut from these guys. They’re always friendly, always set up early and their doughnuts are amazing – my favourite is the passion fruit but they also do a really good cinnamon bear claw.

Pizzarova has locations on Park Street and also Wapping Wharf. We often finish our longer runs at the weekend around this point, just to restock the carbs on their great pizzas. The pizzas are fantastic and they’ve got a great choice of cider and lagers too.

Our run leader Charlotte eats here so often she’s on first name terms with the staff. Her favourite meal is the chicken gyoza on rice – with all the sauces.

Hart’s Bakery

We’re not always running for doughnuts, that’d be terrible for our waistlines. Sometimes we run for croissants instead, just to mix it up. Hart’s is quite hidden away around the Temple Meads area but well worth discovering – in my opinion, one of the best cinnamon buns available. When you pair it with a cappuccino you can’t go wrong.

Pizza is Lovely

One of the great things about Bristol is as a vegan, you’re never limited with your options. Rosalie is a big fan of Pizza is Lovely. The best place to get deep pan pizza in Bristol, inspired by Detroit, serving up warm, fluffy, gooey delicious pizzas by the harbour. The whole menu is vegetarian, with some fantastic vegan options.
