Bristol Christmas Market is back for 2021, bringing bucket-loads of Christmas magic to Broadmead. Here the team behind the market give you a taste of what to expect...

Let’s be honest, Christmas 2020 wasn’t the best we’ve had. Government restrictions put in place due to the ‘you-know-what’ meant family celebrations were subdued, Christmas parties were cancelled and events across the city were unable to go ahead.

But this year, Christmas is officially back and we can’t wait to get into the festive spirit once again. Making a very welcome return to the city centre is our annual Christmas Market, taking place along Broadmead in Bristol Shopping Quarter from the 5 November to 23 December. Here are our top five reasons to visit this year.

Fill your stomachs

Fully embrace the Christmas market experience by enjoying the wide range of food we have available – you’ll need more than one visit to try everything! We recommend starting with a traditional Bratwurst or a delicious Yorkshire pudding wrap and a sweet crepe or churro for dessert.

If you want to take a taste of Christmas home with you there’s plenty to choose from, including artisan cheese, fudge and even moonshine. Be sure to pick up a delicious hot chocolate for the journey!

Toast the festive season

2021 is the year to celebrate with friends and family once again and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back to the Market. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a festive tipple of Glühwein, hot cider, traditional German lager or hot chocolate with Baileys at our ever popular Jager Barn Bar. There will be live music from local musicians to enjoy and an atmosphere like nowhere else in the city.

Tick off your Christmas gift list

Our chalets are filled with a range of unique gifts, including handcrafted toys, jewellery, traditional snow globes, Christmas decorations and much more. You’re sure to find something to suit even the most fussy friend or relative! Once you’ve explored everything the market has to offer, you can continue shopping in the city centre with its wide range of independent and high street brands nearby.

Get cosy

If you want the best seats in the house, our brand new, cosy igloos are guaranteed to tick the box. Gorgeously decorated and heated, our igloos seat up to eight people and can be booked for 90 minutes. Want to avoid the queues at the bar? You can even pre-order your food and drinks! Ideal for family re-unions, catching up with friends and celebrations with the office team, our igloos will sell out fast, so for a truly special experience visit our website and book your slot.

Entertain the kids

We all turn into big kids at Christmas – it’s impossible not to! But for the little ones in the family, we’ve brought along plenty to keep them entertained. There are fairground rides to enjoy and an activity trail to follow with a prize at the end. Don’t forget to bring along your letter to Santa and post it in our letter box so he knows what’s on your wish list this year.

Talking of Christmas wish lists, after what will be a busy few weeks, what do the market team want for Christmas this year?

“For us, just being back in Bristol is a big wish that has been granted. The safety of our guests, traders and staff will always come first but we were really disappointed to have to cancel last year’s event. This year, being able to be part of the Christmas celebrations for so many people is the best gift we could ask for.”
