Circle of Light

Lighting designers Toy Studio brought their colourful and immersive daylight installation to Bristol for the first time. ‘Circle of Light’ encircled the equestrian statue in Queen Square and create coloured shadows that extend and contract depending on the time of day, angle, and intensity of the sun.

Visitors experienced ‘Circle of Light’ from a distance, taking in the rainbow of colours spanning the square, and walked through each colour shadow and see the city in a different light. The installation also featured in the evening programme when it light up and again bathed the square in a spectrum of colour. Originally commissioned by Canary Wharf Group as part of Summer Lights 2021.
