You can also enjoy drinks, afternoon tea or dinner in their grand 1853 Restaurant & Bar.

Royal splendour: Thornbury Castle

Things didn’t turn out too well for the young Tudor Queen, but this magnificent 16th century castle once played the love-nest for Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn - and the place oozes history (think oak panelling, roaring fires, and a dungeon dining room). Choose from 28 splendid bedchambers all with truly king-size beds: the 10-footer in the Tower Room is said to be the widest in Britain.
